Frosted glass

They are a variety of ways to create frosted glass, including sandblasting, engraving and etching with chemicals. It has a frosted appearance, hence the name, and it diffuses or scatters light, which blurs images without reducing light intake. For this reason, it is a popular method of improving levels of privacy.

Etched glass

Etched glass

Etched glass is created by sandblasting clear glass in order to obscure certain areas, leaving a huge range of beautiful designs on the glass surface. As this involves obscuring the glass somewhat, it’s also another great way to give yourself some more privacy. Check out the examples below to see what kinds of etched glass designs are available.

Patterned glass

To create patterned glass, the surface of the glass is heated until it’s in a malleable state and then imprinted with a specific texture or pattern. As well as providing a decorative touch, some patterns are more obscured than others so there is some flexibility in terms of concealing the inside of your home from view. You can find some examples of patterned glass below.

Stained glass

Stained glass windows are made by combining pieces of coloured glass to form fancy designs. You can see them on churches across the UK, where they instantly draw in the eyes of any passers-by. With that in mind, a strategically placed stained glass window can provide your home with a stylish focal point. As the glass is more obscured than clear glass, they can also be useful for reducing light levels in a room or improving privacy.

Bevelled glass

Bevelled glass that is used for windows and doors is typically made by taking a thick panel of glass and creating an angled surface cut, known as a bevel, around the perimeter of each individual piece. The bevels diffract sunlight and colour, highlighting both the glasswork and a spectrum of colours. Bevelled glass is often obtained as clusters which are then arranged to create a range of stunning designs. Check out the stylish examples below for the types of motifs you can expect when opting for this particular type of glass.
