The Beginning of Emplas
Our founder, Kevin Johnson established T&K back in 1979 from a garage and first floor bedroom. The decision to become a window and door fabricator was made which gave birth to Emplas. Having the business as a prestigious partner has helped us establish ourselves as much more than just an installation business; we are are a proud in-house manufacturer of glass and frames.
Advanced Factory Facilities
In 1979, Emplas outgrew their small garage and first floor bedroom and moved to a small industrial unit in Wellingborough and then to a larger unit in Burton Latimer later in the same year. In 1980, the business grew again and so they relocated to Finedon before returning to a larger site in Wellingborough in 1983 and then to a site three times larger in 2001. In 2018, a £2.2 million investment in a factory extension grew the site to 57,00 square feet, the equivalent of two and a half football pitches. Then, in 2023 the business invested in a new 25,000 square foot factory unit.
The business’s advanced factory facilities enable us at T&K to supply our customers with highest quality window and door products. Not only that, but our products are manufactured by experienced professionals, making them unique and industry leading.
Multi Award Winners
Much like ourselves here at T&K, Emplas are a multi award winning business. From founder Kevin Johnson being presented with the Promotional Campaign of the Year at the Glassex Industry Awards in 1998, to the company winning the G Awards again 6 times over the last few decades, Emplas have a long standing reputation in the window and door fabrication industry.
This also means that every window, door and living space installed by our local, family-run team is built by a manufacturer officially recognised by prestigious award bodies.
Investing for the Future
Emplas are an investment led business and this was echoed in 2022 when they invested £1 million in a Forel Vertical Sealed Unit Line at Padiham Glass and another Forel line in 2025 to increase product quality and capacity to manufacture double and triple glazed units.
In 2023, £2.2 million expansion was also invested in their Wellingborough manufacturing space further increasing product quality and capacity.
For us here at T&K, this means that we are able to serve more customers and provide them with higher quality window, door and living space products.
