The Loves & The Johnsons: A Story of Family, Dedication, and 42 Years at T&K

In an era where the average person changes jobs every few years, a 42 year association is more than just a career, it is a legacy.

In 1983, Steve Love started his 30 year service with us at T&K. During this time, technology and styles have changed, but the core values of craftsmanship here at T&K have remained constant and this is thanks to people like Steve.

Steve has become an indispensable part of the T&K family and we wholeheartedly salute him for his 3 decade continuous service.

1983: The Beginning

Back in 1983, Steve Love’s father Roger Love visited Kevin Johnson and Tony Foster at T&K’s fabrication facility in Alen Road, Finedon. He explained that Steve was leaving school and so asked if the business had any job vacancies.

Steve entered the trade through a Youth Training Scheme and became a Window and Door Installer.

During the early 80s, Steve experienced the grit and hard work of being an installer, honing the skills that would eventually make him the master of craft.

Mentorship & The Rise to Expertise

Steve quickly progressed under the guidance of Tony Foster (the T in T&K) and was trained to be a Surveyor once he had successfully completed his YTS.

The move from being an installer to surveyor was critical as it required taking his manual skills and applying them to technical precision and planning.

Fast forwarding 15 years, Steve was promoted to an Installations Manager. He mentored a young Ryan Johnson (the eldest son of Kevin Johnson) in running the business at the same time. He helped prepare Ryan for a future of leadership.

A True Family Business: Three Generations

At T&K, we believe that our business isn’t just a place to work, but it’s a place where families feel at home. This was echoed through Steve’s semi retired father joining us as a part time electrician.

Not only that, but 5 years ago, Steve’s son Chester followed his father’s footsteps and joined us as an apprentice Window and Door Installer. Upon completion, he too progressed to be a fully qualified Window and Door Surveyor, a role he currently occupies today.

The Gold Standard: Head Conservatory Surveyor

After Steve’s years of successful growth in the extension market, he became T&K’s Head Conservatory Surveyor. He still occupies this role today and designs and surveys conservatories and extensions in the higher end of the industry which requires a large amount of technical knowledge.

He also assists the sales department on technical extension sales, ensuring what is sold to customers like you is technically sound and perfectly engineered.

He reports to Craig Johnson who is Kevin Johnson’s son and younger brother of Ryan. He is T&K’s Managing Director and now runs the wider group.

The Heartbeat of T&K

At T&K, our reputation in the extension market isn’t just built on glass and frames, but on the loyalty of people like the Love family.

Ourselves and the Johnson family can’t thank the Love family enough for their continued hard work and dedication over three generations.

When you choose T&K, you are choosing decades of expertise.

Work with us on your next project and join us in saluting Steve Love!
